Request for Expression of Interest
“Enhancing the capacity of the business community in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) region for boosting intra-African trade.
The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has received a grant from the United Nations Economic Commission of Africa/African Trade Policy Centre (UNECA/ATPC) to implement a six-month project entitled “Enhancing the capacity of the business community in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) region for boosting intra-African trade. Specifically, the project will focus on building the capacity of the members of the business community in the application of ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS) and ECOWAS CET, including preparing recommendations for accelerated implementation of ETLS and preparation of a Guidebook on ECOWAS CET. In addition, the project will sensitise the business community on the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA) and collate the views of the said community with a view to assisting them to formulate inputs into the negotiating position of ECOWAS on CFTA.
Summary of activities to be undertaken/services to be provided
The summary of the activities to be undertaken and/or services to be provided are:
i. Preparation of an Inception report;
ii. Conduct of desk studies and field missions to Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal;
iii. Preparation of desk study and field mission reports with recommendations, including the preparation of A Guidebook on ECOWAS CET
iv. Organisation of capacity building and sensitisation workshops;
v. Preparation of workshop reports; and
vi. Organisation of Media Visibility including the organisation of project outcomes presentation
The Expression of Interest
The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry is inviting Expression of Interest from consulting firms with experience in intra-African trade, particularly in ETLS, ECOWAS CET and CFTA. The Expression of interest must be submitted within two weeks of the publication of this Expression of Interest on the Chamber’s web site.
The following information must be provided:
i. Company Profile outlining inter-alia, the company’s key professional area of expertise and experience with a Team Leader with not less than 20 years of professional expertise in the area of Regional Integration, Regional and International Trade and Customs-related fields; of not less than 20 years
ii. Number of years providing similar service in the ECOWAS region or in other regions of Africa;
iii. Management structure;
iv. Number of professional staff, including relevant consultants to team up with the firm with relevant expertise in the areas of Customs, Trade Liberalization and Trade Negotiations (include the CVs of consultants teaming up with the firm to bid for the service;
v. Curriculum vitae of the key management/project staff;
vi. List of associate firms / subsidiaries in any.
vii. Copy of company registration documents, including
viii. Business Registration Certificate; and
ix. Certificate to Commence Business.
